About Estuary Forecast Passage Planner

Estuary Forecast Passage Planner is an independent online passage planning tool for sailors and small-boat skippers navigating the waters around the United Kingdom. It is built and maintained by Ben Passmore, an active sailor based in the Thames Estuary, and is offered free of charge.

The site brings together the things a coastal sailor actually checks before leaving the dock — a plotting chart with OpenSeaMap navigational overlays, waypoint routing with distances and bearings, a marine weather forecast pinned to your planned departure time, ADMIRALTY tide states for the nearest tidal stations, vessel profiles for ETA and fuel calculations, and a printable passage plan suitable for the chart table.

Read about the data sources, calculation methods, and safety limits used by the planner on this page. For step-by-step instructions see the Help & User Guide, and for questions or bug reports use the Support page.
